Judgement of Paris, Inventory No. 11501, Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp

Judgement of Paris, Inventory No. 11501, is both a painting and a print by Peter Paul Rubens, capturing the mythological scene where Paris, a Trojan prince, must choose which of three goddesses—Hera, Athena, or Aphrodite—is the most beautiful. In the painting,

Rubens uses his signature Baroque style, emphasizing dynamic compositions and rich depictions of the goddesses' nude figures. The print version, which also depicts the Judgement of Paris, is ornamented with angelic and mermaid figures, further enhancing the mythological narrative. In both works, Hermes accompanies the goddesses as Paris makes his fateful decision.
